AKU
Una poeta que escribe versos con su cuerpo, así se define Aku. Como artista multidisciplinaria, logra vincular en su proceso creativo la escritura con la expresión corporal. Oscilando de las palabras al movimiento y del movimiento a las palabras, el soporte de su obra es la poesía corporal.
Materializando su producción principalmente en video y fotografía, pero utilizando también otros soportes, la obra nace siempre de una partitura que se organiza en cuatro momentos: investigación, meditación, improvisación y grabación.
Los modos en los que Aku se expresa surgen de su pasión por abordar la vida con todos los sentidos despiertos y de su educación formal en artes visuales, danza, artes escénicas, escritura, expresión corporal y demás disciplinas artísticas.
La retórica que propone es una invitación a pensar y dialogar desde la corporalidad, la simbología y la metáfora. Entiende que a través del cuerpo es posible construir una narrativa y despertar la fibra más sensible de quien se involucra. La sutileza del tacto, el erizo de la piel, la respiración, la mirada profunda, las manos y los pies en suave movimiento redactan poesía, erigen una lírica que es única y constituye su obra.
A poet who writes verses with her body, that 's how Aku defines herself. As a multidisciplinary artist, she manages to connect writing with bodily expression in her creative process. Oscillating from words to movement and from movement to words, the foundation of her work is bodily poetry.
Her production mainly materializes in video and photography, but also uses other mediums/ supports. The work is always born from a score sheet that is organized in three moments: research, meditation, improvisation, and recording.
The ways in which Aku expresses herself arise from her passion for approaching life with all senses awake and from her formal education in visual arts, dance, performing arts, writing, bodily expression, and other artistic disciplines.
The rhetoric proposed in her work is an invitation to think and dialogue from corporeality, symbolism, and metaphor. She understands that through the body, it is possible to build a narrative and awaken the most sensitive fiber of those who engage with it. The subtlety of touch, the prickling of the skin, a deep breath, an intense gaze, the hands and feet in gentle motion, compose poetry, erect a lyric that is unique and constitute her artwork.

Artista, bailarina, coreógrafa y artista de performance. Completó sus estudios universitarios en Estados Unidos, graduándose con honores en Arte y Danza por la Universidad PBA. Trabajó como coreógrafa para una productora de televisión y más tarde fundó su propio estudio artístico multidisciplinar, donde produjo, dirigió e interpretó varias obras por encargo.
Artist, dancer, choreographer and performance artist. Completed her university studies in the United States, graduating with honors in Art & Dance from PBA University. She worked as a choreographer for a television production company and later founded her own multidisciplinary art studio where she produced, directed and performed in several commissioned pieces.
Texto curatorial por María Lightowler a propósito de la exposición individual realizada en Casa Madre , Madrid , junio 2023. Renascere, en latín: nacer de nuevo. Renascere desdibuja la imaginaria línea entre el microcosmos y el macrocosmos y la frontera concreta entre la vida y la muerte. La obra, una poesía corporal, narrada en dos capítulos “Cineris” y “Porta”, se materializa en vídeos y registros fotográficos. Se trata de un metafórico relato -con cierto tinte autobiográfico- que pretende reflejar las metamorfosis que todo ser humano experimenta a lo largo de su vida. Aborda la noción de que todo muere para luego renacer transformado. En Cineris no hay principio ni fin, se va de la vida a la muerte y de la muerte a la vida. Un cuerpo arde para consumirse y resurgir renovado. En Porta, desde una vasija que simboliza la vulva, un cuerpo se construye y se da nacimiento a sí mismo. Atraviesa el portal, porta en latín, y pone de manifiesto la recurrencia del ciclo vital. CINERIS Cineris del latín: ceniza. Como una cinta de Moebius, Cineris va de la vida a la muerte y de la muerte a la vida. No se define qué sucede primero porque, en términos cíclicos, no hay principio ni fin. Arder para consumirse y luego resurgir, atravesando una transformación, es parte de la simbología y metáfora de esta obra. La ceniza representa la destrucción y la desaparición de algo antiguo para dar lugar a algo nuevo y revitalizado. En Cineris, emerge un cuerpo renovado, que no es diferente al que se incineró, pero que tampoco es el mismo. La obra pone de manifiesto la fugacidad de la vida y, a la vez, las pequeñas muertes que cada humano atraviesa a lo largo de la misma. PORTA (del latín puerta) Porta del latín: puerta. Moldear la propia vida es la propuesta de esta obra, que presenta un cuerpo que se da nacimiento a sí mismo y por lo tanto se forma de igual manera. Luchando y aprovechando la maleabilidad del barro, es decir, la naturaleza de la propia naturaleza, son las manos las que van dando forma a las extremidades, al torso y al resto de la figura. La idea de que el ser humano proviene del barro es una noción que se encuentra presente en diversas culturas antiguas alrededor del mundo. Desde la egipcia y la griega hasta la judeocristiana. En Porta, todo surge de una vasija que simboliza a una vulva y lo cíclico se torna omnipresente en la recurrencia de generar el canal de la vida, la puerta de apertura al mundo exterior y la potencia del cuerpo que brota de ese portal. La fuerza de la obra radica en no definir sino transitar por esa vía de la reiteración y la vida insistente. The work manifests the transience of life and, at the same time, the small deaths that each human undergoes throughout it. “PORTA” (from Latin, “puerta” - door) Porta in Latin means door. Shaping one’s own life is the proposal of this work, which presents a body that gives birth to itself and, therefore, forms itself in the same way. Struggling and taking advantage of the malleability of clay, that is, the nature of one’s own nature, it is the hands that shape the limbs, torso, and the rest of the figure. The idea that human beings come from clay is a notion present in various ancient cultures around the world, from Egyptian and Greek to Judeo-Christian. In “Porta”, everything emerges from a vessel symbolizing a vulva, and the cyclical becomes omnipresent in the recurrence of generating the channel of life, the opening door to the outside world, and the potential of the body that sprouts from that portal.
